YOUR PRIVACY & COOKIES
1. What are cookies?
We use small text files placed on your computer called ‘cookies’ to collect standard log and visitor behaviour information in an anonymous form. We use this information to analyse how visitors use our website and to compile statistical reports on website activity. You can set your computer to reject cookies, but this may affect your ability to use certain parts of our websites. Except for information you specifically provide to us, we do not automatically collect any other information.
2. What are cookies used for?
Cookies are used to improve services for you, for example:
- If you have previously given and saved a username and password you don’t need to repeat this for every web page you visit;
- It allows a service to recognise your computer, tablet or mobile phone so you don’t have to give the same information several times during one browsing session; and
- It allows us to measure how many people are using our services and websites, so they can be made easier to use and ensure there is enough capacity and that they perform well.
3. What types of cookies do we use?
We use Google Analytics and Pardot on our website.
Google Analytics cookies are used to collect information about how visitors use our websites. We use the information to compile reports which help us improve our websites. The cookies collect information in an anonymous form, including the number of visitors to a website, from where visitors to a website have come from and the pages visited. For more information Click here for an overview of privacy at Google.
Pardot sets first-party cookies for tracking purposes, and sets third-party cookies for redundancy. Using first-party and third-party cookies together is standard in the marketing automation industry. Pardot cookies do not store personally identifying information, they store only a unique identifier.
Visitor Cookie: The visitor cookie includes the name “visitor_id” plus the unique identifier, which is derived from the tracking code placed on your site. The value stored is the unique ID for the visitor. For example, cookie name “visitor_id12345″ stores the visitor value “123456789,” where 12345 is the account identifier and 123456789 represents the visitor ID. This cookie is set by our tracking code on visitors and prospects.
Opt In Cookie: The persistent cookie named “pi_opt_in” is what we use to stay in compliance with the “Do Not Track” initiative.Pardot’s tracking code can optionally respect these headers and does not use cookie-based tracking for any visitors with that setting enabled. What is not tracked?
What is still tracked?
Pardot App Session Cookie: The session cookie named “pardot” is only set if you’re logged into our app as a user (i.e. prospects will not have this cookie set).
Sometimes Pardot has to use third-party cookies: this exception is based on how different web browsers handle cookies. Pardot will use third-party cookies in the following instances:
- When your account does not have a vanity CNAME
- On https pages

4. What are the main benefits of cookies?
Cookies can improve the user experience by remembering key information that the user has provided to us, so the user does not need to re-enter the information every time they access the website.
Cookies allow us to use aggregate data to improve our websites by helping us to identify the content our audience finds most interesting so we can produce more of it. For example, if we notice our audience is consuming more content related to a particular service in a month, we will plan to produce more of that content in the future.
