Capacity Planning Manager

We are currently recruiting for a Capacity Manager to own, drive and deliver the management of capacity on Virtual1’s Network. Working with Network Architecture, NOC and our vendors, you will be responsible for ensuring that POP locations and interconnects have sufficient bandwidth, hardware and scale to deliver Virtual1’s aggressive rollout plans.



Key Tasks:

• Management of Capacity cases - Own the capacity queue and distribute subcases to engage internal departments where required within the business.

• Work with vendors and suppliers to order products and services required to ensure customer services can be delivered within SLA.

• Reporting – Provide regular reports on network usage activity to the Head of Architecture and where required to the CTO/COO.

• Exchange Installations – Order and manage the deployment of new exchanges connecting into the Virtual1 network.

• NNI Installations – Work with supplier management team to order components and services required to provision new carrier NNIs onto the Virtual1 Network and ensure there is sufficient capacity on existing NNIs.

• Monitor core-to-core/core-to-edge connectivity and provide reporting to enable network architects adequately plan for upgrades.

• Management of network element stock levels both in both Virtual1 stores and our field service partner’s warehousing.

• Work with the Automation team to provide planning, information and processes to enable end to-end automated service provision.



Essential Criteria

• Strong background in Telecommunications.

• Basic working knowledge of the concepts of data networking including Routers/Switches, NNIs, VLANs, Cabling (Fibre/Cat6 etc), IP and the OSI model.

• Confident, capable and self-motivated with high levels of organisational ability.

• Ability to clearly elucidate information both in document and presentation formats. • Knowledge of using a CRM system such as Salesforce and especially the production of reports.

• Knowledge of creating Wiki pages using a platform such as MediaWiki.

Travel Requirements

Occasional travel in the UK may be required.
