Last Thursday saw another successful night for Virtual1 at the Comms National Awards, taking home the coveted Best Network and Best Portal awards. This brings the 2018 awards haul to an impressive 8 trophy’s.
Over the last 18 months Virtual1, completed the rollout of a nationwide network to over 280 fibre exchanges across the UK, bringing over 180 towns and cities on net to Virtual1. That network is intelligent too, it is the UK’s first fully software defined carrier network. Placing automation at the heart of the network has enabled Virtual1 to put the channel in direct control of the configuration of the solutions they provide for the very first time. This control brings the traditional service lead times of days down to just minutes.
These services are all configured via our customer service Portal - 1Portal, and our suite of API’s. Virtual1’s Partners can configure the most common change requests themselves directly now, including bandwidth, VLAN resizing, Quality of Service, DHCP, SNMP, IPV4 routing and JFlow changes, all in seconds, 24/7/365.
It’s not just in life services that benefit from this architecture, our use of SDN has also reduced our install times too, we are now averaging 26 working days for a Layer2 provision on our Network, significantly ahead of the market average. This means that the Channel are able to realise value much faster than before.
Our CEO Tom O’Hagan was delighted: “Our teams have worked so hard over the last 18 months to push the boundaries of what a Channel business can and should expect from a supplier, it fantastic to see this both recognised and rewarded by the industry. With more releases planned for the rest of 2018 and beyond we have no intention of slowing down our drive to empower the Channel and be simple to do business with.”
